Privacy

What we collect

• Your account: your email, display name and handle, plus anything you add to your profile (photo, bio, home city).
• Your check-ins: the venue, the time, and the location your phone reported when you checked in, including how accurate it was and how far you were from the venue. We also record each check-in attempt, including ones that didn't go through, to stop fake check-ins.
• What you add: memories, reviews, posts, tips, reactions, photos, venue suggestions, tags and favorites.
• Friends and safety: friend requests, the people you block, and reports you make.
• Usage: basic events about how the app is used, so we can see what works and fix what doesn't.

Your location

We only ask for your location when you tap to check in, and never track it in the background. The location from your check-in is stored with that stamp as proof you were there. Your coordinates are never shown on your passport or to other people.

Who can see what

• New passports are public: anyone with the link to venuepassport.app/p/your-handle can see the venues you've stamped. Turn off Public passport to keep them private, or to share them only with friends through Let friends see my passport.
• People can find you by name to send a friend request unless you turn off Let people find me by name. That doesn't show them your stamps. If your passport is also public, other signed-in members can see you suggested in their Friends tab: as someone new, or as someone with stamps at the same venues as them. Turning off either setting takes you out of those suggestions.
• Reviews and approved photos show your display name unless you turn off Show my name on reviews and photos.
• Reports are confidential: the person you report isn't told who reported them. Our moderators can see what they need to review reports and keep the community safe.
• Photos you upload are shared under the licence you agree to when you upload them.

You can change these settings any time in Settings → Profile.

Deleting your data

You can delete your account any time in Settings → Profile. It takes effect immediately and can't be undone. It permanently removes your profile, your stamps and memories, your reviews, posts, tips and reactions, the photos you've uploaded, and your friends, blocks, favorites and tag votes.

A few things are kept, without your name: reports you made about other people, so our moderators still have a record of them; venues you suggested that were added to the directory; a venue cover image that was made from one of your photos, which stays without its credit; and basic usage events, which are no longer linked to you.

To delete something specific without deleting your account, such as a single stamp, email venuepassportadmin@gmail.com from the address you signed up with.

What we don't do

We don't sell your data.
