Terms of Service
Effective September 18, 2026 · Last updated September 18, 2026
1Who we are and what this covers
Venue Passport is run by Nicholas Tuttle (“Venue Passport”, “we”, “us”). These Terms cover your use of venuepassport.app and everything on it.
By creating an account or using Venue Passport, you agree to these Terms and to how we handle your information as described on our Privacy page. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
2Who can use Venue Passport
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- One account per person. Give accurate information when you sign up, and don't create accounts for anyone else.
- Keep your sign-in secure. You're responsible for what happens on your account.
- You can't use Venue Passport if we've previously ended your account for breaking these Terms.
3Check-ins and stamps
- A check-in uses your phone's location at that moment to confirm you're at the venue. How close you need to be depends on the venue's size.
- Only check in where you actually are. Don't fake or spoof your location, share an account so someone else can check in for you, or use tools to get around the checks.
- Memories are visits you log yourself. They're marked as unverified and are not stamps anyone confirmed.
- We may remove stamps, and the points and badges that came with them, if we believe they weren't earned honestly.
4Points, levels and badges
- Points, levels and badges are for fun. They have no cash value and can't be sold, traded or transferred.
- We may change how they're earned, adjust totals, or remove anything gained by cheating, such as fake check-ins, multiple accounts or trading likes.
How they work today is explained in the FAQ.
5What you post
This covers everything you add: reviews, posts, tips, reactions, tags, venue suggestions, your profile and photos.
- It stays yours. You keep ownership of what you post.
- You let us show it. You give Venue Passport permission to store, display, format and share it on Venue Passport, so the people it's meant for can see it, for as long as it's on the service. Photos come with a wider permission, in section 6.
- You're responsible for it. Only post things you have the right to share, and keep reviews honest: don't review a venue you own or work for without saying so, and don't post reviews you've been paid or rewarded for.
Who sees your passport, and whether your name appears on reviews and photos, is up to you in Settings → Profile.
6Photos
When you upload a venue photo, you agree to the terms shown on the upload screen (version v1-2026-09-15):
- I took this photo myself, or I own or control the rights to it.
- I give Venue Passport a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual licence to use, copy, crop, edit and display it: on the site and app, in marketing and advertising, and on social media.
- Venue Passport will credit me by my display name where practical, unless I've turned off name display in my settings.
- The photo doesn't feature anyone identifiable who hasn't agreed to appear in it.
- I keep ownership of my photo. This permission can't be withdrawn for uses that have already been published.
Photos are checked by a moderator before they appear. If your photo becomes a venue's cover image, the cover stays even if you later delete your photo or your account, as the licence above allows.
7Community rules
Venue Passport is for fans. Treat people the way you'd want to be treated at your favourite show. Don't:
- harass, threaten, bully or abuse anyone, or post hateful content;
- post spam, advertising or repeated self-promotion;
- pretend to be someone else, or suggest you speak for a venue or artist when you don't;
- share someone else's private information;
- post sexual, graphic or illegal content;
- post things you don't have the rights to, like someone else's photos;
- game the system: fake reviews, multiple accounts, vote or points manipulation;
- interfere with the service: scraping, bots, overloading it, or probing its security without our written permission;
- misuse the report button to target people.
8Reports, warnings and suspensions
- You can report a profile from its menu, and block anyone you don't want to hear from. The person you report isn't told who reported them.
- Our moderators review reports. Depending on what happened, we may remove content, send you a warning, suspend your account, or end it.
- A warning appears the next time you open the app, and you'll be asked to confirm you've read it.
- A suspension means you can still sign in, see your passport and change your privacy settings, but you can't post, review, react, upload photos, suggest or edit venues, send friend requests, add stamps, or change your name, bio or photo. We'll show you the reason.
- We usually act step by step, but serious problems can lead straight to a suspension or to ending an account.
- If you think we got it wrong, email us (section 16) and we'll take another look.
9Venue information
- Venue details, show listings, genres and amenities come from our community and other sources. We work to keep them right, but they can be out of date or wrong.
- Check with the venue before you go, especially for times, ages, accessibility and tickets.
- Venue Passport isn't affiliated with any venue, artist or ticketing company unless we say so.
10Venue owners
If you run a venue, you can ask to manage its page. We'll need reasonable proof that you're authorised. Once confirmed, you must keep its details accurate and follow these Terms. We may remove management access if it's misused.
11Suggestions and feedback
Venue suggestions, edits and new tags are reviewed before they appear, and we may change or decline them. If you send us ideas or feedback, we're free to use them without owing you anything.
12Deleting your account
- You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Profile. It takes effect straight away and can't be undone.
- What's removed, and the few things kept without your name, are listed on the Privacy page.
- We may suspend or end an account that breaks these Terms, or that we need to close to protect people or comply with the law.
- Sections 5 (for content still shown), 6 and 14 continue to apply after your account ends.
13Changes to the service
Venue Passport is still in active development. We may add, change, pause or remove features at any time, and we can't promise it will always be available or error-free.
14Disclaimers and limits on our liability
- Venue Passport is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we don't make promises about it beyond what these Terms say.
- We aren't responsible for what happens at venues or shows, for your travel to them, or for what other people post.
- To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to $100.
- Nothing here limits rights you have under law that can't be limited.
15Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. We'll post the new version here with its date, and for significant changes we'll tell you in the app or by email before they take effect. If you keep using Venue Passport after that, the new Terms apply.
