Tower Theater
19 S. 69th Street, Upper Darby, US
Built in 1927 as one of Upper Darby's first movie houses, the Tower spent decades as a film theater before a 1972 fire forced a full renovation the rebuild is what turned it into the concert hall it is today, and it's been hosting touring acts ever since. It's earned real credibility over the years, landing on Rolling Stone's list of the ten best live music venues in the country in 2018, and its stage has history with everyone from Springsteen to Prince. It's an old-school theater layout orchestra level, loge, and balcony with both general admission and reserved-seating configurations depending on the show, so double check your ticket type before you go. Note that only the orchestra level is wheelchair accessible; loge and balcony are not. No dedicated lot, but there's a parking garage at Chestnut and 69th, a municipal lot at Garrett Road and Long Lane, and the 69th Street Transportation Center lot, all within walking distance, plus some metered street spots. There's an ATM in the lobby and two full bars (21+ with ID), and the box office opens at noon on show days. It's the kind of room where the venue itself is part of the draw worn-in, historic, and a step up from a club without losing the intimacy.
